Wanted

I went to see Wanted tonight and have mixed feelings. A few years ago, I read the comic and loved every issue, couldn't put it down and recommended it to everyone I knew. The movie is nothing like the comic. The story wasn't even close and a little drawn out in some parts. Should you go see it?Definitely, but be prepared for some really graphic and bloody scenes.

Grizzly Bear, "Knife"

I listened to "Knife" by Grizzly Bear today more than once, so I thought there must be some significance as to why or maybe it is just worth mentioning. I also saw the video today on mVids, some cable TV show that plays videos. Imagine that, I have actually found music videos on TV. Lately, I have been obsessed with music videos and have been watching MHD nonstop this past week. They have some really great live shows and videos. 

As for "Knife", the CSS cover on the Friend [EP] is really my favorite version of the song and I usually listen to it while I'm driving. If you are interested in checking out any Grizzly Bear videos, check out their website www.grizzly-bear.net/ and definitely catch them live, if they are playing in your city. 

In Bruges

Comedy? Not at all, but all the writing on the DVD case pointed in that direction. This movie was far from funny. Colin Farrell is a failed hit man who is sent to Bruges on what he thinks is a small vacation. He was recently involved in his first hit and accidentally killed a small boy, which haunts him throughout the whole trip. Little does he know that he is going to be "offed" in one of the most miserable cities he has ever been to, Bruges. There are many twists and turns in this dark comedy with an outcome not as predictable as one would think. Overall, this is worth the rent, but be prepared for a heavy emotional ride. 

Trenton Thunder vs. ERIE SEAWOLVES

Today I went to see the Trenton Thunder play the Erie Seawolves. Daniel Christensen pitched 8 solid innings for Erie. Erie won the final game of the series 6-1 this afternoon before a stadium of mostly camp kids and sweaty adults. Good news, Trenton finished the season series 7-1 against Erie! 

A day of errands and such...

Today was a highly productive day.... 

I started off by teaching a blog class, going out for lunch with a friend, running some errands, tutoring and ended by cooking a pretty darn good london broil. 

Although, the highlight of the day was the free iced coffee I received at Starbucks. Yeah, if you have this neat little card, that I got out of a magazine, for the whole month of July, only on Wednesday, you can get one for free too. Awesome!

• I have heard the name, but never really heard the music until today. I bought this CD as a birthday gift for my brother and we opened it up and added it to my ITunes this after noon. What a great voice! I love covers, so this was an extra incentive to give this easy listening artist a spin. Check out the CD below and take a peak at Buble's site.

Jenny Owen Youngs @ Union Hall

Tonight I went to see JENNY OWEN YOUNGS @ Union 

Hall in Park Slope, Brooklyn.FOOD WILL WIN THE WAR were the openers and they were pretty descent. Kudos that they covered Elliott Smith! Also, Jenny covered Nelly, which was a great way to end the night. If you are looking for some inexpensive Pan Asian cuisine, check out Nana on 5th Ave. Overall, great venue and awesome area for food and drinks.

The First Day of Summer

Do you remember the episode from Seinfeld, when George found out that being fired from the Yankees came with a severance that could stretch his laziness 3 months? He was elated and shouted that he was "going to do something with these three months." Although I only have two months, I feel like I have an extraordinary opportunity to live my summer up, my way. What exactly does "my way" look like? I'm not exactly sure. 

What did I do today?
